Congratulations to
Amy Makovec
October 2019 Employee of the Month!
=========================================================================================================================
Amy and her husband Darren together have 5 grown children and 8 granddaughters. She enjoys spending time with family and she squeezes in a weekly visit to her mother who has dementia. She has a rescue dog at home that keeps her busy when the granddaughters are not around. His name is Rudy and they also have one cat named Fatcat. Back in 1986, Amy passed the state boards and received her LPN license and ironically started her career here at HMH at that time. But a few short months after starting here she had the opportunity to work for the USPS as a mail carrier in Emporia KS and remained with the Postal Service until 01/2015, she then retired with what they call a “discontinued service retirement” as the office she was Postmaster in, along with many other small towns were cutting hours. Fortunately, she had enough years in to retire. But unfortunately, she did not keep her LPN license current. Soon after retirement she approached Dr. Mosier for a medical assistant position at his office. She started working for him in 02/2015. It was a great place to work and she has many wonderful memories but needed more hours as her youngest daughter was starting college so she applied at the Herington Clinic. She started her position here at HAHC as a medical assistant in 12/2016.
Amy says, “The providers and staff we have are great to work with and it seems I learn something new everyday. It has been an uphill climb for this small-town hospital but we are no longer stalled or stagnant, I feel us gaining momentum and I am proud to be a part of that.”
Quote from a fellow staff member: “Amy excels in the way she cares for her patients. She has a smile on her face and always tries to brighten their day.”
Congratulations Amy and thank you for the great care you provide
to our patients and community!
